Joel Evanier
Co-Chairman and Executive Vice President of Business Development Strategy, RedSeal Systems
Joel's 25 year career includes leadership roles spanning network computing,
networking and security. Prior to joining RedSeal Systems, Joel was co-founder
and Vice President of sales and business development at RouteScience, a router
optimization company acquired by Avaya. Prior to that, Joel was Director of
sales at Cisco Systems, where he built and managed a national overlay
organization for security and network management products. Before Cisco, Joel
was Vice President of sales, marketing and business development at NETSYS
Technologies (acquired by Cisco), and spent 10 years at Sun Microsystems in
national and worldwide sales management roles.
Ray Rothrock
Co-Chairman RedSeal and Managing General Partner, Venrock Associates
Mr. Rothrock joined Venrock in 1988. His focus is primarily information
technology companies and security and energy. Mr. Rothrock also serves on the
board of
Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP) of Tel Aviv, Israel and
a number of private boards including
Imaginova,
Imperva,
Jadoo Power Systems,
PGP, Qpass,
Vontu,
and Zia
Laser. He previously served on the boards of
WholeSecurity (acquired by Symantec, NASDAQ: SYMC), Spyglass (NASDAQ:
SPYG), DIGEX (acquired by Intermedia Communications),
Pedestal Software (acquired by Altiris, NASDAQ: ALTS) and Haystack Labs
(acquired by Trusted Information Systems/Network Associates). He also led
Venrock's investment in
DoubleClick (NASDAQ: DCLK). Mr. Rothrock received a BS in Nuclear
Engineering from Texas A & M University, an MS in Nuclear Engineering from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA with Distinction from the
Harvard Business School.
Tom Arthur
President and CEO, RedSeal Systems
Tom has over 20 years experience helping startups and fortune 500 companies build successful businesses. Most recently, Tom was CEO of PhoneSpots, an early innovator and international provider of mobile local search content and advertising solutions for Yellow Page and Directory Assistance (411) operators. Prior to PhoneSpots, Mr. Arthur served as President and CEO of Arbor Networks, a leading network security company focused on detecting, tracing and mitigating denial-of-service and worm attacks against service provider and large enterprise infrastructure. Prior to Arbor Networks, Mr. Arthur was President of ActivCard Inc., where he grew the company from $3m annual revenues to over $34m culminating in a successful IPO. From 1988 to 1998, Tom served in various sales, marketing and general management roles for Novell Inc. His last position was VP and GM of Novell's Internet Infrastructure Division. Tom holds a BS from the University of California at Davis.
Tench Coxe
Managing Director, Sutter Hill Ventures
Mr. Coxe joined Sutter Hill in 1987 following his tenure with Digital
Communications Associates in Atlanta, where he managed T-1 products and
directed internal MIS and marketing. Previously, he worked with Lehman Brothers
in New York City, where he was a corporate financial analyst specializing in
mergers and acquisitions as well as debt and equity financing.
His current directorships include Artisan Partners, Ceon, eLoyalty, FaceTime
Communications, NVidia and Ruckus Wireless. He was also responsible for the
firm's investment in Alteon Networks, @mobile, Avant!, Edify, Legato, Lynk
Systems, Network Appliance, Grand Junction, NCD, OnStream Networks,
Synernetics, Primary Access, and XcelleNet. Mr. Coxe graduated from Dartmouth
College with a degree in economics. He earned his MBA in 1984 from Harvard
University's Graduate School of Business.
Joe Horowitz
Managing General Partner, JAFCO Ventures
Joe joined JAFCO Ventures as the Managing General Partner in 2003, bringing 25 years of experience working with emerging growth companies as a venture capitalist, business advisor and operating executive. Prior to joining JAFCO Ventures, Joe was Chairman & CEO of Geocast Network Systems. Before Geocast, he formed ICON Venture Advisors where he actively consulted with and served on the boards of a number of early-stage businesses, aiding them in their strategic partnering, management and financing initiatives. Prior to ICON, Joe spent ten years with U.S. Venture Partners (USVP). Joe began his venture capital career in 1978 at Exxon Enterprises, the venture capital arm of Exxon Corporation. He received his MBA from the Wharton Graduate School of Business and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics at Columbia University.
As an investor and/or board member he has been involved with Classroom Connect (acquired by Harcourt), Cortina Systems, Encompass (acquired by Yahoo!), Gymboree (GYMB), Microtune (TUNE), Netsys Technologies (acquired by Cisco), Oodle, Proofpoint, SiTime, StarSight Telecast (acquired by Gemstar) and Sun Microsystems (SUNW).
Dr. Parveen Jain
Consultant (formerly Executive Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Strategy, McAfee)
At McAfee, Parveen was responsible for the company's overall security and intrusion prevention, worldwide marketing and corporate strategy development. Prior to McAfee, Jain was Co-founder & CEO of IntruVert Networks, a start up in the security space with appliances for the intrusion detection and prevention market. Intruvert was acquired by McAfee in May of 2003. Prior to IntruVert, Jain held several senior management and executive positions, including CEO of Computing Technologies International, which delivered software and services to power utilities. Jain has also served as vice president of Application Products at Expert-EASE Systems, managing the development of software targeting the aerospace industry, and held senior product management positions at S. Levy Inc. and Systems Control Inc. Jain is the author of over 50 business and professional papers. He has a Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; MS from University of Cincinnati; BSEE from Indian Institute of Science, India; and BS from Delhi University, India.
Pete Sinclair
Managing Director, Leapfrog Ventures
Mr. Sinclair has over 20 years of senior operating and five years of venture
capital experience. He has been CEO of companies that he successfully sold to
Microsoft, Novell, and Adobe Systems, and has participated in two IPOs. He
started his career with Hewlett-Packard and joined Apple Computer when it was
still a small private company. He has raised money from and worked for some of
the top venture capital firms. Mr. Sinclair has a BS in Engineering from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also a graduate of Stanford
Business School's Executive Program for Small Company Presidents.
